SPG555 Sealed or Ported?

Sealed. I wouldn't port it unless you like things peaky and nasty. I would do about 1.75-2.5 cubes per sub sealed.
sounds good, you guys have experience with the sub right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I will probably be only be able to fit about 3.5cubes. into my car.

They had a couple at a local shop and they let me demo them. They sounded very nice sealed but pretty horrible ported. They were pretty **** expensive but did sound very nice. Their enclosure was fiberglass so I can only estimate that it was around 4 cubes total for a pair of them. I believe they had the 4 ohm coil in as well. The ported enclosure was in their install bay but it was very noticeable that it was peaky and sloppy. I have no idea what the specs on it were though.

Probably because the Qts is somewhere around or above .8 on that driver......

EDIT: Yup, just checked again because I couldn't remember for sure....Qts w/ 4ohm coil is .8 & an EBP of 40. Not a good candidate for ported. 2ohm coil doesn't fare much better.

I have owned 2 Boston Acoustic Subs. I spoke with their techs both times I built my box and they told me samething both times. For SQ build a sealed box, as close to their recommended specs. as possible. Not to vary by more than + or - .3 cu. ft from what they recommend, and to use 1 lb. of poly fill for each cu. ft.

X2

I am looking into the SPG555 as well. I'm going to use them in a dual chamber side fire box in a boat.

What are you guys using for an amp? Currently I have a MMATS 2100@.05. My builder said it will work and supply power but its definitley not the best sounding amp? opinions?

What about something with a little more power for two? I am trying to keep down the amount of amps needed in my system as I am running out of room.
Just keep it to 2000W/total for two. They will handle 1000W/ea, but not much more.
