OK Gang-

I've been out of car audio for about 7 years! Even then I only knew basics- Back in my highschool days Kicker Comps were the shit- Polk for mids and anything alpine- HU and Amps.

I've missed a system in my car for 6 years and its time for one.

SPEND MY MONEY!

I own an '02 Solara, JBL factory system with 6 disc.

This is what I have-

NOTHING.

If we cant put a kick *** system together for a grand, then leave out the head unit, I might be able to get one of them. Other than that- Can you help build me a system!

What I'm looking for...

I dont know the difference with SPL or SQ or whatever I've seen people refer to. I listen to music from Nelly/50 cent (a lot) all the way to Nickelback/Creed. I want BASS and lots of it. What can we come up with?

Give me sub suggestions/ Amp suggestions/ Head unit suggestions and ANYTHING ELSE - PLEASE

1 sub or 2? I dont totally understand 1,2 or 4 ohm and how it works- So please make sure what you suggest matches, I wouldnt know the difference. I will be around if anyone is willing to help me please email me at JokerzGtp at aol. I could really use some one on one help.

THANK YOU !

Without the HU, here are my suggestions

Speaker Amp Soundstream RUB600-4 $220 @ http://www.millionbuy.com

Sub Amp - Soundstream RUB500-1 $160 @ http://www.millionbuy.com

Front Speakers - CDT comps 6.5" $150 @ http://www.thezeb.com

Rear Speakers - CDT CL-6x $50 @ http://www.thezeb.com

Subs - Elemental Designs (2) 12kx.44 ~$160-170 @ http://www.edesignaudio.com

Sub Box - Build your own for ~$40

Wiring - (2) 4 gauage wiring kit ~$80

Total ~ $870 for a kick *** system. Installation not included but most of the work should be easy enough to do yourself. If you need any more help/suggestions lemme know.

if he went with the D2, he's left with what? 600 bucks? I would hope you value actual speakers a little more than this. You reason is retarded to say the least, if he were to get a D2, he'll need what, $300 for an amp to push the sub, after that he;s got about 300 for front and rear speakers, wiring, maybe another amp for the comps and rear sperakers, plus wiring, installation and what not? Why waste all your money on a sub? It makes no sense to me.

Thanks for the input so far guys-

Question- The link for that Amp- 2 channel amp- what is that intended for the components?

Also-

I have 2 older amps that have sat (I know they work- a buddy borrowed them for about a month) for about 5 years, its an old small alpine and small kenwood- I had used them to push some component polks (kenwood) and 2 8" kicker comps(alpine) back in 94!

Are these amps worth using for anything- they function fine- I dont have them right now, my buddy does, so i do not know they specs on them.

The alpine was the series that came out just before the V12 line. Should I just start from scratch or could I save a few bucks and use the alpine maybe to push some components? Or should I start fresh and just forget about them?

Thanks again

not bad if u r in a budget, but for $1k u can get much better stuff.

Front - CDT CL-61silk $150 or the new one that just came out HD-62CF $199

Rears - CDT-6X ~$50 just to stay with CDT (both from thezeb.com)

Sub - hmm what a dilemma huh =) i'll prob say 1 12'' would be enough so

1 12'' Magnum D2 ($300)

or just 1 12'' RE SE n ported it, just to save money ($180)

(could go for XXX or Brahma too, but just some numbers wont fit that well)

speaker amp - USX 4065 $130 @ thezeb.com

sub amp - Xtant A6001t ~ $250-300

Avionixx AXA500M ~$300

HiFonics BX 1000D $~260 @ ikesound.com

tsunami would be nice if u can find them

but that leaves u at least ~100 for miscellaneous, im pretty sure u could go over budget for $60 or so.

ppl, why arethe hifonics amps so cheap @ ikesound? i remember the HiFonics BX 1000D used to be at least $300 fora brand new

I'm having trouble finding this Magnum D2- Who sells them.

Also- Ive found a lot about Audiobahn subs, and I know (or thought)MB quart used to have some decent mids and components...

Are these shit compared to what your suggesting? I'm just trying to get back into whats hot and whats not. If you guys tell me they are sh** then they are ****. I see the ALUM Audiobans cheap- Stay away?

Thanks-

I looked at IKesound and zeb where else can i find some of this- they dont seem to have what some have listed.

BTW- Im shooting for 1k. If I got over 100.00 its fine.

I also use to have a connection that can get me Focal's at like half price- All lines- comp line and crap line- Whats your take on Focals- I've heard nothing but good about them as well.

Thank you all for your patience.

Focal makes some great speakers, i'm not as familiar with their lines...but if he can get you some good components for cheap go for it.

magnum d2 is prolly ur best bet as far as sub goes... http://www.stereo integrity.com

I'd go with the CDT front and rear speakers suggested, a us acoustics 4085, and pick from the sub amps above or an avionixx 800.2 (http://www.edesignaudio.com) Also, stuff we listed is much better than audiobahn...definitely. peace, good luck man.

for an example look at my setup in my signature. That came to a total of like 900 bucks minus the head unit.

now u can do things differently like u could get 1 12" D2 and get a 1000 watt amp which would be cheaper than my sub/amp setup price or around the same. as for speakers i definetly recomennd taking out the rear fill, get one nice set of components up front, mine costed 150, and theyr soooo great for the money.

for ur questions abotu audiobahn, theyr subs sound like PooPoo. and MB quart speakers come with HARSH tweeters.

Can someone tell me...

If I were to get a D2 or the eD sub ...

Do I need a mono amp or what?

I've seen a lot of people with the 1200.1 jbl- How is this amp for those subs?

What am I looking for.

Will 1 sub give me enough bass- I want to feel it....hear it...and KNOW I'm coming down the road.

I think I'm going CDT components, CDT for fills , NOW I need to decide on AMPS and either D2 Sub or the eD. Depends on cash I guess.

Any other suggestions? How are CDT's subs? Was looking at their website. Thanks again guys.
