I have a set of CDT Comps and they sound absoutly horrible. I am guessing becasue I do not have an amp for the? Is this correct? If I turn the volume up past like 20 they start to sound static and they just sound horrible. They are only getting probably like 12 watts from the HU...since its 4X50..and I only have 2 speakers and 2 tweets..

yeah well now you know not to only do that. hook up the crossovers and hook up an amp. they will sound 100x better and then if you want them to really sound good. deaden the doors, create a baffle so that it is pretty much sealed and use some putty to complete this air tight sextion

Sounds like you need to learn how to tune your system. Also, alot of speakers need a little bit of time to be broken in. When I installed my comps, I was not able to push them very hard at first. After learning how to tweak everything in my head unit and amp (including the crossovers) it seems that I can keep pushing my comps harder and harder with no distortion. Take your car for a ride and learn how to tune things. Your components will NOT get loud unless they are crossed over. In fact, its likely that you will blow your tweets without them.

You definitely need and amp. Get an amp that does 50 watts +. When you hook up the amp, Turn on the highpass & experiment from 63 hz to 100 hz.
