Speakers popping at high volume

hey all, i am hoping you can help me with a problem i am having. I just installed a new radio, front, and rear speakers in a geo prizm.

The back speakers worked when i used the original factory plugs (spliced wire to the new speaker), but the front ones did not work.

So, to bypass the factory plus, I put speakers wire directly from the front speakers, to the wiring harness. However, the factory harness did not have left and right front and left/right back.

So, what i did was splice the front left and back left together, and the back right, front right together.

Now, I when I put the volume at a high levels, the speakers pop/crackle. I am assuming this is because i have two speakers on the same wire? if so, what else can I do

Possibly...

Your probably going to fry that head unit and speakers wired like that.

Either

Run new speaker wire from your head unit harness fronts LR and rears LR to your speakers

or

run only your fronts now, and get a small amp later to run those speakers with, considering the factory harness doesn't have separate front and rear wiring..
