Speakers making noises

Well I have my speakers running off the head unit power. I never turn them past a certain volume, but every now and then they will sound distorted at the normal level. This only happens for a brief moment, and not often at all. What would/could be causing this?

you're clippn the head unit's little amp....why dont you invest in some Scorche bass blockers from walmart? They cost like $8 and will limit fequencies below 100hz thru your door speakers.
