Hello every one. I got a pair of speakers that are 250 watts Rms. First I was running them off of a Infinity kappa 150w RMS amp .Then I upgraded to a Fosgate t400-2 doing 250wRMS. Then I guess also an upgradeed and currently running them off of a Dd Ss4A 240wRMS . For some reason the 150RMS infinitty kappa amp spunds louder than the other 2. WTF . Although the DD audio sounds more detailed though. BTW deck is 80prs and gain is set like 1/3 of the way on all amps. What could be the cause of this? Supposed to sound louder and better.Thnks in advance

1st i'll don't know those amps but of course watt ratings aren't always what they cracked up to be., and never know maybe gain just needs 1 more notch could just not be as sensitive as another amp idk..

make sure the filters (highpass and low pass) on the new amp are set properly

gain knobs on the amps are not volume knobs. They each require different settings. Gain at 1/3 of the way isnt the right setting and you could be completely undergaining with the other amps.

Are they at 2ohm or 4ohm?

The DD has up to 8v inputs so 1/3 isn't the same as a 1/3 on a 6v amp.

I just have them on all pass had it the same on infinity. Havent really had time to do it since I work 12 hrs night shift plus 2 hr commute lol. But i was thinking that too probably setting the HP n LP should filter them out and make them louder

Yeah that I know I just have it there to be safe. I hadent had time to make a test tone cd hopefully this weekend I have time to set the gains & hope that makes it better

yeah at 30% gain you would be at max clean rms on the infinity. You'll need to be around 50 or 60% for the DD to get actual output.

What in gods name are you saying? Have no exp with his amp but gotta say something anyway??

Even the same amp can have different setting points on the gain

I saw a pair of gain matched amps and one was almost a 1/4 of the way past the other to get the same voltage out

I'm agreeing with this answer. One amp brand from another is gonna be a big difference as far as sound goes and gains properly set. There's plenty of youtube tutorials on how to set your gain. Takes maybe 5-10 mins.
