Speakers in a 2004 Jetta (Monsoon System)

I'm new to car audio and I'm looking for some advice. I recently installed a Kenwood DDX770 headunit and now I'm in search of some component speakers, an amp, and eventually a subwoofer. I heard a pair of JL C5-650s and enjoyed them but am looking for more options that are similar/better in quality. I would like to keep my budget less than $600/pair but am open to options based on quality. I plan to use sound deadener as well as take out the monsoon amp and use something better to power the speakers. I'm somewhat of an audiophile when it comes to headphones/computers, but am new to the car audio scene so I'm looking for extremely high quality parts.

Suggestions?
