Thoughts on Massive Audio CK 6X?

Hey guys, I was originally thinking about getting some JBL 6.5s for my front speakers, but then I stumbled across these Massive Audio CK 6X's for about the same price.

Anybody have experience with these? Are they worth skipping over the JBL Power series 6.5s?

P.S. What's the difference between these and these and these? There's a strange price difference.

CK6V was a forum boner for a while. CK6X is an improvement upon that set mainly with a better crossover. OCS probably doesn't have CK6V in stock as it's been replaced for quite some time, and it's possible they don't have CK6X in stock either. No authorized Massive Audio dealer is allowed to list product for sale for less than what you can find at Homepage*| Massive Audio.

We can get P660C and CK6X. Between the two I would go with P660C. It's a really good set for the money

Thanks for all of your help trumpet, sheesh. Half my system is built off your advice already hahaha.

Why do you favor the P660C over the CK6?

JBLs over massive... The crossovers on the massives suck, even if it really has been improved. You gotta go active with that set and ditch the crossovers to get any good sound.
Sorry, by "going active" you mean use an amp, right? Sorry, new to some lingo yet

You use the crossovers on an active capable amp to go active.

Passive crossovers split the signal and power so the highs goes to the tweeters and the mids/midbass goes to the midrange speaker.

Going active means you use crossovers on an active capable amp or head unit to split the signal and tweeters get their own direct line of power and mids get their own direct line of power from the amp. When tuned right, it has the potential to sound phenomenally better then regular component sets.

Oooooh I see. Well, I'm using an Apline HD149BT which is a pretty decent HU, but I'm not sure if I can crossover the tweeters separately from the woofers. I'm also using a tiny little Clarion XC1410 amp with a super basic crossover. So unfortunately I don't believe I can do that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

Do you think the crossovers on the JBLs are adequate? I suppos I'm kind of a growing audiophile (sometimes in the worst ways) and would like to have the best tools for the job in order to squeeze out some great SQ with what I can manage.

You can go active with the 149bt easily. You'll be doing it from the head unit rather then amp. JBL crossovers are much nicely put together then the massives from my experience, I have a review on the 6x9 ckx massives in the speaker review section in the forums.

I can go active with the Alpine? I only see crossovers for the front, rear and subwoofer - nothing about tweeters. How do those factor in?

And thanks for your advice, it's seriously a huge help!

you gotta look in the owner's manual to see where the switch to turn on active networks are on your head unit.

Its not in the head unit menu, its like a tiny dipswitch at the bottom or side of your head unit.
