Speakers for a trailer???

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to put a 12" Kicker L7 into my trailer, and I want to put some mids/highs in there too. What do you guys think I should do? I was thinking about just putting 2 set of 6x9s in there, one speaker in each of the 4 corners at the top in boxes. Do you think that would work well, or should I do something different? Also what brand and model of speakers should I run? Not looking to spend a ton of money, just want some decent sound.

I would suggest some component speakers Fiberglassed into each corner aiming to where you will be sitting/standing or doing what you want. If you are affraid of Fiberglass, then put them in an MDF box, just make sure to aim them correctly and do it yourself.

Depending on your budget i would recommend some (cheapest to more $$) Pionner, Infinitie, Boston, Alpine, DLS, CDT, the possibilities are endless. If you give us what your budget its, then we can give you a better estimate.

You will also need an amp 4 channel or 2 2 channel amps again depends on you budget

These are going in an enclosed race trailer. I use it to haul my quad to races and the dunes. It's already gonna bump with the 12 in it, but I want mid's and high's that sound good too. I'd say I don't want to spend more than 500 bucks for the speakers and amp(s).

This is MY suggestion, I would suggest you go to your local audio store and play your favorite cd/song and listen to different speakers and pick the one that sounds best to you.

Speakers

1. Alpine SPS-171A

- Ebay

2. Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1

- Ebay

3. Infinity REF6000CS

- Sound Domain

4. Boston Acoustics FS60

- Ebay

5. DLS

- Can ask in the thread who sells and what the prices are

6. Dimond Audio

- Ebay

7. CDT

- Ebay

By the way these are not the only brands out there, there are more, Rainbow, MB Quat, Image Dymanics, etc.. it all depends

Amps This depends on what speaker you buy, try to match RMS values

1. Sound Domain 2 channel

2. Online Car Stereo 2 Channel

3. Ebay 2 channel

4. Sound Domain 3+ Channel

5. Online Car Stereo 3+ channel

6. Ebay 3+ Channel

7. Nex Tag

8.

Wires

Wire is wire, some look cool, some are twisted, but the all serve the same purpose and this should not be over looked when calculating costs especially if you have to run the speakers really far from amps or amps far from HU.

Odds and Ends

Other odds and ends include connectors, o rings, u rings (i think thats what they are called), zip ties, fuse and fuse holder, grounding screw, thats all i can think of right now. I suggest amp kits less stress. Find somebody that can make you one, if you buy premaid ones you might find that you don't have enough speakers cable.

Depending on were you are going to put this, don't forget that you might need to buy MDF or fiberglass to mount these speakers. Another expense.

**Disclamer, this is what i can come up with off the top of my head; Brands nor Stores are by preference. These are mearly suggestions, in the end you must choose what sound goods to you and fits your budget.

Good luck

Thanks for the help, i'll have to go check some out. Would you recommend just running speakers up front, or should I get some for the rear as well?

Here is how I was planning to mount the fronts. We're thinking about putting cabinets in the front, and I was going to mount the deck and front speakers below it. If we don't do that i'll make something, say a shelf to store stuff, and have it a little above eye level, and make an MDF box of sorts to mount to the bottom of that, with each speaker in it's own box inside that box, and the amp mounted say in the middle so I can hide all the wiring.

Does that sound like a good plan?

When you go to a concert do you turn around to have music blasted behind you???

Thats my thoughts on rear fill. Then again in a trailer whats it matter.

Well i would hold off on rear speakers, just b/c it is a trailer and you might get too much echo depending on the setup up. If you want buy speakers that could possible Got a larger RMS Value and go that rought.

One of my random ideas; I'm not sure if you can but i would see if when you build then enclosure for the speakers, you can get it tunned.
