Hi, I have an whole aftermarket system in my 95 Taurus. I have an Eclipse CD4000, Pioneer DEQ-7600 Digital Equalizer, door speakers are Alpine type S 6.5 coaxial, rear deck are alpine type R 5x7 coaxial. These are powered by a Profile Baja 440 4-channel amp under the seat. and then in the trunk i have two 12" Alpine Type R 4 ohm version with an Alpine PDX 1.1000 amp. and a 2.5 farad cap.

My main problem is, when i turn the volume up high, my speakers distort. i know that if you over drive them they can distort, BUT, i have the gain on the amp for the front door speakers so low because they are distorting that i am completly shocked that they are distorting even when i dont have the gain up. can you make speakers distort by underpowering them? and i dont have any bass running to them, i have the high pass filter on the amp for the front speakers at around 200-250 Hz somewhere.

So whats my problem?
