Approximately how much speaker wire is required to hook up a pair of component speakers? This is going in a Volkswagen Jetta, and I will most likely be placing the crossovers in the trunk since I dont think there will be enough space in the doors or dash.

Amp will also be placed in the trunk.

Just trying to get all my bases covered before I get too little, or too much wire.

Also, will 16 gauge be sufficient (speakers rated 3 ohm, 125 rms)

Thanks dudes

Who knows??

What is it -- 10' from the trunk to the doors? Maybe you should call it 12, or maybe 15' to be safe. Multiply it by 4 and you should be in the ballpark. It also depends on the route you're taking. If you're going to run it under the carpet in a straight line from the trunk to the doors maybe it will be more like 8??

You just have to guesstimate it as well as you can.

Don't be afraid to over-estimate. It never hurts to have an extra 20' of spkr wire lying around. That's a helluva lot better than being stuck on your last wire and having to go to the hardware store for one more foot.

About 17-20 feet per run maybe 15. You just have to have enough to hide the wire and run it along the stock location. I'd do 14 ga, but 16 is fine.

I used about 18 feet for front doors

and 13 feet for rear doors

yeah i did some measurements tonight (raining like mad all day until a few hours ago) and looks like 14 feet for the passenger side door, and 19 feet for driver side door. I ended up ordering about 75 feet. Now that I think about it, I should have ordered about 100 in case I screw something up or if I decide to be anal and make the speaker the same lengths

Crap, now I'm going to think about this until I wire everything up. Maybe I'll change my order monday morning to do 100 feet

edit: If I was able to store the crossovers in the dash, then I'd be golden. I don't think it would be safe to stash them under the seat because of snow and water (this car is a daily)

Those measures are with the crossovers in the trunk right? Because I have to wire 4 crossovers and I ordered like 150ft just to be sure :p Will use leftovers to change home speaker wirings.

Yeah I just bit the bullet and ended up ordering 100 ft of knuconceptz karma 16ga

if I dont use any of the kicker wire included with my amp kit, you'll see it for sale on here soon haha
