Speaker Hiss!!!!!!!!!Help

Just had installed new system, polk audio DB691, DB651, DB101 Tweeters, with an Alpine CDE-102, Alpine ERA-G320 EQ, AND Kicker ZX650 Amp. First off, getting a constant Hiss out of all 6 speakers, no matter what source I use,(CD, Tuner, Sirrus Radio). The Hiss is really annoying...even if you turn the volume up, you can still hear that hiss in the background of the music...any suggestions on what it could be??...Second what should the crossover and gain be set at, I seem to be getting mostly highs and mid-bass, I am not putting in a sub right now, so I would like to have some bass from the 6x9 and 6.5 in the doors. The speakers are 4 Ohms, and the amp is 4 channel pushing 120x4. Whta is a good gain setting?

First, did you install the system or was it professionally installed? If it was professionally installed, I would go back to them and have them fix it.

It sounds as though your gains may be turned up way too far?

You can check my sig to see that my system has some similarities to yours. The only time I get some noticeable hiss is when my 9887 source is on the iPod. However, I only hear it at really high volume levels and when no music is playing. I have been told that between Alpine and Apple, it is what it is. But your situation sounds a little more dramatic than mine.

You have the gains to high ......Have everything set correctly

Does the hiss get louder as you press the gas? If so, it could be an alt whine. (Just throwing out ideas)

If not, like said before, gains too high.

I noticed that the Alpine ERA-G320 EQ has a volume control on it, and if you lower it on the EQ you loose the volume, if you make it louder it hisses more???.....could the eq be the problem?????

Definitely a high noise source....that is why EQ's are very rare nowadays and the parametric EQ's built into most HU's are superior.

imo, sounds like a combo of your gains set to high and too much eq mabie.
