Speaker/Engine Whine

I had an engine whine before but then i fixed it, ended up getting a second battery and rewired my entire system and its back, i checked my amps and stereo, power and signal wires are ran separately, i have a feeling its the stereo because ive had it for years and it was also doing it in my last car, just looking for some help and see what kind of suggestions you guys have to help fix it, ill try checking again with whatever advice yall give

It's common for the Pioneers to blow the Pico fuse in the headunit causing a whine. Normally from "hot swapping" the rcas. You can ground the RCA terminals on the back of it for a quick fix.

i tried that on my last car and it made it even worse ill try it on this one though and see how it goes

try this run a ground wire from thehu ground wire all the way back to the amp ground

I used to ground all equipment to the same point to avoid ground loops. Got rid of whine in 90% or better of installs.

That fuse theory is interesting. I wouldn't ignore it.

That would be a real hassle and a long run of wire. at the HU to a solid grounding point would be a bit easier I would think??Prob that PICO FUSE on that HU

You could prob open that HU up if you are handy and just solder a small 14ga jumper wire in the place of that Pico fuse that is more than likely blown... or take it to a Computer repair shop and get it done for like $40-60 bucks verses buying another unit if you like the radio that much and it functions to your needs? Just suggestion

yea i was looking into buying another HU because i grounded my amp ground somewhere different and it didnt help so its coming from the HU i feel like, i tried the rca ground thing and it helped fix the static but i had the whine with no music coming out the speakers

Ive had no issues with 4v Kenwood HUs. You can find one fairly decently priced.. maybe even a 5v hu. i just picked up a nice older Alpine 9585 off DIYMA. I like running the older Eclipse HUs also some 5 and 8v but not as many features asnthe new units provide, but pretty simplistic to run and operate.JVC was bought out by Kenwood a coiple years back and are basicly the same units/models as Kenwoods Same Co. You can find a really good updated HU for $150 for a single din

I like to find an HU with a fan built into the rear of the unit, of which keeps it running cooler at longer operation periods
