Soundstreams new amps

So im looking at getting a 1000 or 1500 watt mono amp, and a 60ish x4 amp, both matching in size.

im torn between the Tarantula series and the Picasso series. they are pretty close to the same price, the tarantulas being a tad more. pretty close to the same ratings. I will be running 3 JL audio 10w6AE subs at 1 ohm and a set or two of JL 7 inch marine components.

Do you guys think 1000 will be enough? or should I go with the 1500?

TRX1000D or TRX1500D

TRX4.420

or

PCX1000D or PCX1500D

PCX4.360

The only real differences I see on the specs is the THD and dampening factor on the 4 channels.

what would you do?

PCX here http://www.soundstream.com/amplifiers-picasso.htm

1kw is way more than enough for those subs. I ran 6 on 800w total and they weren't going to get audibly louder with more power. Those subs don't need a lot of power at all. Remember that they were deisgned back when an amp that would do 600 watts bridged was big and expensive. As such they were built with efficiency in mind.

THD needs to only be "low enough." Same with damping factor, it only needs to be "enough." I'd go with the Picassos personally.

so are soundstream amps still good quality?
they are pretty good in my opinion, i had the 1700 picasso and the 2000 picasso a couple of years ago, and i was impressed how loud they were, not bad for the money.i powered one kicker l7 and they about blew up, but they were too much for one 12 kicker l7.go ahead and buy it man, they are all right.

well im not looking to break the sound barrier, just need some reliable decent sounding semi-cheap good quality amps that I can play really loud riding around in the hills here.

do these get hot at all? should I put a fan on them if they are mounted in a spot that won't have much airflow?

I have the TRX2000 Tarantula, Only complaint is that it only has a 4-gauge power terminal. But doesn't seem to matter as it really moves my 12". But other then that, great amp. Keeps cooler then my **** 4-channel Alpine. Hard to beat for the money.

i just received a trx2.550 to replace a recently blown vangogh800.2.. honestly, i think the amp looks mean and quite slick, but i opened the case to take a gander at the board and wasnt nearly as impressed as i had hoped for

i decided to hook the amp up regardless, considering i had a temporary audiobahn amp powering my front speakers, i was actually very eager to hook up the new soundstream amp

so far i am not blown away by the amp.. but it doesnt seem to be worse than my old van gogh amp.. it does what it is supposed to do, and the speakers sound just as good they did when they ran off of the van gogh.. so in my mind its not a bad amp

i have been a soundstream fan for a while now, and i still havent been disappointed by any of their products to date.. except for the fact that their stuff is made in china *sigh*
