Soundstream head unit problems. HELP!!!

I've just installed a Soundstream VIR3200 head unit ( along with Soundstream speakers, 2 amps and a sub) I'm very happy with the install in my 2010 Dakota. The problem is the head unit is not working. I know it's getting power because the light behind the detachable face blinks and I'm able to insert and eject a cd. But once I close the face plate.....NOTHING! It's a touchscreen face. It doesn't light up and no sound. So I can't even turn it on to check the amps and speakers. I've tried the reset button. It feels like it connects good when I close it...... Any ideas? Plz Help!

Where did you pull power from? Many dakota's/durangos you have to run the red power wire to the fuse box/switched power

I used the power, ground and acc's from the vehicles original harness. I cut them and connected to the new head unit.??

Check it with a dmm.

Try running the power directly to the battery and see what happens? Is this HU new?

Do u mean, run it to the battery just to TEST it? If so, does the size of the wire matter?........And yes it is a new head unit, but I got it off ebay, so u never know?

Yes to test it, if you connect the red wire to the battery it should come on. If that does work then run a power wire from your fuse block to a switched power source

Ok I ran it directly to the battery and it works great. Thank you thank you. Now where do I run the stereo power wire to. Do I run it to the fuse box under the hood? And if so which fuse do I use. Several of them say ignition......-ignition off draw/cabin/radio -run start ignition switch - audio amp - power outlet - ignition run / start feed - ignition run/ ac / windows - ignition run feeds???.......and do I just pinch it with the fuse? Sorry but I don't want to fry anything. Thanks again for your help!!

If the radio fuse is switched at the fuse box. You can pinch it but they make a connecter for that purpose. Any auto parts store will have it

I ran it to the fuse marked - ignition off draw/ cabin/ radio..it turns on but it doesn't turn off when I turn the truck off or even when I take the key out. I have to manually turn it off.should I try a diff fuse? If so which would u try from the choices two posts earlier?.......Also when I do turn the radio off I get a very loud surge through the speakers. Im assuming it's from the amps shutting off. I'm afraid they might get damaged. What might be causing this? Thanks in advance for any advise!

Bad grounds can cause turn on thump. Find a 12v source that is switches off and on with the key. Just test them all with a dmm to figure which one is switched.
