36hz isn't bad for tuning. That is exactly where I like my boxes to be tuned at.

those boxes are hella small and I bet the tuning's going to be in the 40s

DD and SQ both recommend a 40hz tuning point for ported boxes even though many box builders including myself have found that 30-34hz is better for tuning on these subs. but from a money stand point, most people that buy these will not hear enough of a difference to justify paying more to have a better box built with very little audible differences. considering the boxes will be half or more than half the cost of custom built box, no builder will be able to build a box to produce an large enough audible difference to sway a large amount of peoples views from the price difference. it's like spending $500 on a 2kw amp than spending $1000 on a 2.5kw amp.

I sell these Atrend DD/AQ boxes here at the shop.

They are great for entry level systems, but are tuned in the ~37hz range.

I usually only sell them w/ the DD500-series subs, or as 'out the door' boxes.

They are my go-to prebuit box if the customer does not have to budget for a custom box.

Build quality is pretty dam nice. They hold together very well, but the glue is kinda sloppy (over glued).

Some time $50 extra price for a custom box can make of break a full system sale, and I would MUCH rather put a customer in one of these Atrend boxes than see them go down the road and get a $60 Q-Power turd-box.

What should I be expecting to pay for a custom built ported box for 1 15" Gcon at 4ft ^3 tuned to about 32-35hz? Nothing fancy just regular carpet matching my interior made of 3/4 mdf I guess...

For a custom build enclosure? $200 shipped

For prefab...$50-?? what ever you want to spend...

At my shop we do not stock or sell any prefabs what so ever.

Do you build enclosures or your shop? If I told you what I wanted you could do my box for $200 shipped? It would most likely be for 1 15" or 2 12's. Either way 4 cubic ft tuned between 32-35hz depending on if I go with SSA Gcon 15 or 2 12" SA E series 12's. I can build sealed boxes but ported are just to complicated and they need to be done right...

Well it's not prefab It's hand built when you order it. Khaotic boxes I think it is...
