Sound Splinter RL-P expectations??

Now that I am in the market once again for a new sub(see my earlier thread about blown VC on D Series Solo) this sub has caught my attention. I have read through a lot of posts and visited the Sound Splinter web site. What I am wondering is how it will stack up so to speak with my old round solobaric. The reason I was so enamored with the round solo's was because of their ability to play in a small sealed enclosure. I want my system to sound nice but I really do not want to render my trunk useless, I noticed the RL-P's were also designed with small sealed box applications in mind. I listent to a wide range of music so I am looking probablty for an overall performer.

As things stand right now I plan to be powering what ever sub I get with a PPI PC2150(600x1 at 4ohms, underrated I think!). I have heard the W6's and W7's and liked them but I can't run a single W6 and the price on the W7 is just insane. I have also heard my brother pair of 12L7's and I am not sure what to think about them. I have also looked into the IDMAX as well. Price wise the RL-P wins hands down against them all. Please give me a little insite into some of these brands that are tough to get a listen to prior to purchasing. Thanks for the input

Soundsplinters are great subs...and do perform quite well in smaller sealed enclosures. I currently am running 2 12" Rl-ps in my single cab silverado. The SQ in phenomenal and when the time comes they have more than enough output form me, and I enjoy output. So they are well suited for what you have described...Also may I ask what size box are you planning on putting them in

Mike (of SoundSplinter) is the best guy to do business with in the industry.

My 12" RL-p (the first signed one ever! woot!) performed well in a small enclosure, not so well in a ported one.

It played LOWW.

edit; too bad some dumbass dropped a friggin lantern on it. Bastard.

The box will be sealed thats for sure. The box for my solo was around .75 ft^3. I am not exepecting to go that small again but I want to stay on the small-ish side. In my current install I built a false floor in my trunk about 6 inches high. My sub box rested inside of spare tire which was inverted in the tire well(sort of like a small box with a larger box on top of its tough to describe without a picture).

mike is the man, I bought a used Rlp 15 on here, that was only a few months old and he gave me a warranty anyway. My 15 sings in 2 cu ft, Best sub I have ever owned for the money. I spent 100 More on a DD 12 and it has more output, but SQ is less and its a 12

I had an rl-p in a medium ported box and it sounded great and got way loud as well, awesome sub, you really can't say anything bad about them, plus they have a nice stealth look to them and not very many people know about them

Anyways....an Rl-p will pretty much eat the round Solo's for breakfast. Much more linear displacement (more linear output), and great sound quality (better SQ, in my opinion). I probably wouldn't run one in *as* small of an enclosure as the Solo's used...but 1-1.25cuft is good for the Rl-p.

And, as mentioned, Mike is one of the best guys in the industry to deal with.
