Sound Question

My subs sound better when I have my windows down rather than when I have them up. I know this has something to do with the air their able to get. How can I give the air they need without having my windows down? Thanks for any help.

It actually has something to do with your vehicle pressure and the resonant frequency of your vehicle.

Not really how much air they can get. They don't inhale oxygen.

its really the acoustics of the car when the windows are up the acoustics are different then the windows down.In most cases the subwoofers sound louder. You can try different box types to see if you can gett the sound you want

Doesn't have anything to do with the airspace in the cabin unfortunately. When your windows are down your car is acting as a bandbass enclosure with you being right next to the port opening, ie the window. There really isn't any way to mimic it, unless your box is sealed then a ported box would add ouput in a similar fashion. On a semi-related note try opening your passenger side door for demos, leave the driver side sealed. that adds even more for me.

His answer was pretty darn subtle imo...especially on here, he could've made it far worse.

But yea, as far as I know it's louder when you roll down a window/open a door because the car acts as a bandpass. Every vehicle wont have this effect though, most extremes and other highly modified competition cars are louder sealed up due to the design.
