bruts bxi2008d pushing 2 type r's

i just purchased a bxi2008d hifonics amp. The amp # 650 Watts RMS x 1 @ 4-Ohms

# 1300 Watts RMS x 1 @ 2-Ohms # 2000 Watts RMS x 1 @ 1-Ohms. Im gunna run the amp at 2.4 ohms with 2 type r's. Im wondering if i can run max watts on these subs or where can i set the gain. I also have 4 guage wire which probably needs to get upgraded.

Any help or recommendations is appreciated

your wires are probably fine seeing as how that amp doesnt really put out that much and since youre running the bish at 2.4, youll get just about how much they want so you should be okay. just set the gain by ear where theres no distortion and your subs wanging their nuts off at every frequency. keep an eye on them and listen for anything irregular.

you can use the ol' DMM like everyone will tell you but if youre trying to get set up fast and stuff, youll be okay doin it by ear if you do it right.

What the hell are u talking about running your amp @ 2.4 ohms?? How are u gonna get that final load?? 2 Dual 4s can only be wired to 1, 4 + 8ohms and 2 Dual 2s can only be wired to .5, 2, + 8ohms... Also I'd definitely upgrade to 1/0 gauge wiring quite soon and set the gains on the lower side. Just keep an eye/nose on the woofers, making sure you're not pushing em too hard.

 

They'll handle that amp @ 1ohm, but only if everything is setup correctly and you're not clipping them/running em too hard.

well how do i set the amp to 1 ohm when i got my last hifonics amp tested it was running 2.4 ohm so i figured the wattage would be around right on this amp. running it at 2 ohms would be fine for me plus the type r's are not the dual 4's they are the dual 2's.

Don't set your gains by ear...use a DMM

Take a dmm to the sub coils and see what they are reading then check this site:http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp that should sum it up
