People looking for competition-level SQ decks could give a shit less about mp3 playback usuallyJust my 2 cents on 2 HU's mention...the clarion dzr9255 is great but for the price,it should at least have mp3/wma playback.I still use mp3 so thats a bummer for me and as for the Denon....of course its a great HU and Denon has always made great stuff, but sit and think about it for a moment...is the sound quality THAT MUCH BETTER than other head units to justify such a dramatic increase in cost?Even so,what are we looking at if and when we might need parts for repair or who can repair...just something you might consider before buying a HU

Oh I know what you mean..people competeting dont need mp3.I am by no means in competition.I was just talking for the average person who just wants to have a nice sounding system.Dont get me wrong,I would jump all over that if money was no object.I just wasnt sure he wanted competition grade stuff.Just because he said he had no budget.you sound like a salesmanyou are by no means an audiophile then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
a real audiophile can pick night and day between a very high end unit and a budget mainstream non-dedicated SQ unit.
and besides, SQ enthusiasts do not go mp3. its compressed crappy quality and low bit rate.. CD is still the way to go
but there are outstanding SQ units for less money.. example, nakamichi has some, mine is an example. CD-300 i got brand new for $155 shipped. best sounding HU i've ever had
well you see the stuff in my signature? awesome SQ equipment, i got for less than 3000 - im talking about future setup. my current setup was about 1200Oh I know what you mean..people competeting dont need mp3.I am by no means in competition.I was just talking for the average person who just wants to have a nice sounding system.Dont get me wrong,I would jump all over that if money was no object.I just wasnt sure he wanted competition grade stuff.Just because he said he had no budget.you sound like a salesmanThats just too much for my simple needs.Im just going with the alpine 9887.If Im going to spend that much on a deck, then Im **** sure gonna match the same high quality in components,amps,etc...As for me...I cant afford it
Im going to stay in the $3000 range for component/subs/deck and electrical upgrades. As far as listening to MP3's...I just already have a huge collection thats all...its like when people didnt want to give up tapes lol

Yes, but not with their ears.
i was poking around @ my stereo shop today. the kdc-x991 is off-the-hook. i am thinking of getting it to replace my eclipse cd7000 and all those boxes i got with it (hd radio, ipod box, gps unit).Kenwood Excelon X-990 or X991 has 5volt pre outs. Sound quality is outstanding. I have the X-990, and have been very happy with it.
