sound pops make my amp switch to protect mode

I just finshed installing a new engine in the car and when i went to crank up my sound system, everytime i turn the key, my speaker doa loud pop and the amp switches from green run mode to red protect mode. this is really starting to irritate me. i think its a bad ground but all the grounds check out. does anybody kno the problem before i take a hammer to my amp and get a new one. Please note my amp is a pyle( total crap and a true joke).
