Sound on computer just quit working?

Sometime today, the sound on my computer just totally quit working.

I have checked all the plugs to my speakers, subwoofer, etc. and everything is still plugged in. I turn the subwoofer off and I hear a pop, like the speakers were on. When I turn the speakers all the way up, I can hear the static sound that you hear.

I have no clue whats going on?

Any help?

go to the control panel -> syste -> device manager, then find your sound card, and click uninstall, reboot the computer. Let the computer reinstall the drivers, and then you'll prob have to restart the computer. If it says there is an error durring installation, download new drivers for your soundcard and install them. Presto.

I have checked that. When I try to view the advanced properties under speaker settings, it says "DirectSound settings not avaliable"

Check you ground.

what did I win???

haha, it happens, I have seen many problems, mostly with my wireless adapter where it needs to be reset like that. Sometimes a botched driver can just crap out on you. I've seen it happen with video, sound, and network drivers.
