Sound from engine after HU and AMP install - help :(

Hi there,

I just installed a new head unit and AMP to my stock speakers for my first phase. After everything was installed, i turned my key to the ON position(2nd click) and now i hear a whine noise coming from my engine.

Pioneer AVH-5500BHS

Alpine MRP-250F 4 Channel AMP

I used the back right bolt that holds down the passenger seat and took off some paint to ensure a good ground. But i dont think it is the AMP because I removed the power to the AMP and still have that noise.

How I wired my AMP: ???

any ideas? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif:confused://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

**UPDATE: i removed the head unit and amp, and NOW i still get that whiny noise....

SO, let me see if I understand.

You *removed* the head-unit and the amp, so nothing is powering your speakers at all.

You are still hearing a noise *coming from the engine compartment* when you put the key in the ON position but the engine is NOT RUNNING.

Is that correct?

If you open the the hood can you tell where the noise is coming from? Specifically?

could be how you ran the speaker wire in the car from the amp to the speakers. if wires are smashed or just running too close to something that puts out a strong electromagnetic field that will induce noise through the speakers with or without power connected. I would double check speaker wire runs.

Looks like in the video he's pointing at the alternator... but I'll be dammed if I can guess what would whine without the motor running.
