sound direction...

ok i know this might be somewhat of a noob question... and i know it depends on the freqency that is being created but lets pretend im talking about frenqencies that are less directional

when a cone (not dome) speaker vibrates and creates a sound wave... the sound waves tend to criss cross eachotehr..correct? or do they shoot outward... away from eachother

Sound radiates in all directions. The radiating pattern is not what decides whether or not a frequency is considered directional.

Sound is just a wave of pressure. The cone creates a negative and positive pressure when it moves and that pressure area is coupled to the environment by air. Playing a speaker is like throwing a pebble into a pond but imagine the waves moving in all directions instead of just on one circular plane.

yeah i could of worded my question better but i get what you're saying

the reason im asking is because the way my speakers are set up, im not sure if im gonna be able to angle them.. im trying to come up with a solution to help imaging.. since the mids are blowing straight into my ankle... the passenger side mid, combined with distance isnt really the problem.. my problem is the driver side mid which is has almost a 90 degree axis to me

the only thing i was thinking of experimenting with would kinda be a phase plug... kinda like the ones on the vegas how it extends outwards... except this would be suspended in front of the mid... kinda picture and upside down phase plug thats a little bigger combined with how boston speakers mounts are for some of their tweeters.. cept instead of a tweeter.. an upside down phase plug (dont know the correct term)

i know how bad my paint skills are but maybe this picture will help explain what i mean

i know some math would have to be worked out... but i wonder if this would help disperse the upper midrange frequencies.. but also i dont know if this would have some terrible effects either?
