Sound Deadining help!! Please hurry!!

cover all hole use sheet metal or plexi to cover big holes. Lay some extra strips down on the large flat areas first then cover everything. Do not cover the drains at the bottom of the door.

id cover all holes and worry about it when you need to do mantanince to the window/door handle's and locks. cut a few lines in it and you can get to everything fine. altho i have not done alot of sound proofing im sure you will notice a huge difrance tho(at the least up untell you have to do any mantanince to the door itself) as for doubling up man id do it where ever you can from what everyone says. sorry to not be of much help

So i should cover that huge hold after i fill the inside with damp and then comver the outside with damp? and put sheet metal over that hold and then damp over the sheet metal?

Do not cover the drains at the bottom of the door.

well put

he is saying to close up all those holes so that the deadener has somthing to stick too, but not the drain holes. in that door really all you need to do it to plexi in that one big hole you got, and iv allso seen lots of people cheap skate it and just not plexi anything in and also watched people do a piss pour job of plexiglassing somthing in and adding a brand new rattle to there tunes. if its in that trunk id have somone do it for you instead of learning on that car. geo prizum's make great practice cars!!!

little slots at the bottom where the seems meet. just stay an inch away from the bottom on the inside and you will be fine. What i would do is dampen inside the doors, place sheetmeatal over large holes then do the outside of the door when you go over the sheet metal leave the screws exposed so you can get in there later

Sorry to thread jack...

But could you just cut one big piece of sheet metal / plexi to cover the door, making holes for the speakers / wires, then cover the big piece with deadener and leave spaces for screws... so when you need to do mait on the inside of the door you can unscrew the whole thing?

One large piece won't be able to create a seal. That's the point of covering the holes - to keep the front and back waves seperated.

Go here for a good thread on sound deadening doors.

Cover all the holes you can except the screw holes and the drainage holes. Makes one hell of a difference. Night and day difference in the noise level in the vehicle with the stereo off and in the midbass region with the stereo on. Complete win-win for me.

One of my doors after deadening.
