or recommend something else cheap. I am doing the ceiling, in my house, need about 250ft. Was going to do a drop ceiling but the ceiling is just too low, and the douchebags that built the house ran all the water pipes under the joists instead of through them.

Are you having problems with resonance in the ceiling panels? Or are you going to use it as sound proofing?

Either way, there's better products for HT use.

its for sound proofing period lol. Not a HT room. I can look up and see the plywood floor and the only thing above that is like some 1/4 hardwood. Basically trying to make the room quieter and not boter people upstairs.

Those asphalt and butyl based products are good for controlling resonance vibrations. They aren't as effective for sound barrier use (even in vehicles), there are much better products designed for that purpose.

It goes on the roof of your house, not your ceiling. Asphalt isn't "deadener" so don't use it as such. Exactly what KOL said. Ignoring our advise and doing what your talking about would be the dumbest thing I think I've ever seen on a forum.
