Sound Deadening

hey guys, so just so everyone is clear i have a 12" type r powered by a JL 500/1...hits hard enuf for me...but it does create ALOT of rattles, so i am just wondering what are some of you personal experiences with sound deadeners...i want some not too expensive, can buy off ebay and is RELIABLE...all i need for now is enough to to my trunk lid adn my doors...any suggestions?

i also am trying to stay away from liquid deadeners...nothing against them just have herd from several people that liquid is not as good...

I searched and from what I have read Second Skin Audio deadening seems to be everybodys top choice.

I was also going to make a thread about this but saw this one. I really needed some sort of sound deadening before I setup another system.

Think im going to go with Second Skin Audio deadening. How do I put this on? With a heat gun and a roller?

I haven't been able to find a price. Could I get a decent amount atleast for my back trunk door (ford expedition) for around $100?

Either/or...

There is some debate about that, but I use a roller. I have tried a gun, but didn't see much benafit. I like the roller because it seems to make better/more contact because it squeezes the air into bubles whick you pop with a razor or whatever and then mash it down again.

If its cold outside (like it really gets that cold down there in Miami... LOL!!!), use the gun, but I'd still use the roller...

I didn't know the average trunk made money... LOL!!!!

I've never done a trunk (SUV owner), but you could always measure the sections you want to deaden, then call Anthony at SS and get a quote. I'm pretty sure that forum members get a 20% discount...

Like I said, call Anthony for details about the discount...

As far as layers go, I'd just start with one and go from there. I'll finish my SUV tomorrow, 1 layer everywhere except the firewall. About 250 square feet. So, its up to you to decide what you like...

Several members do. Its probably tied between that and SS, but because of 2 different reasons. The general consensus of the forum (as I have seen it) is that if you are willing to sacrifice a LITTLE quality, Raamat is right for the money. Also, if money is not that big of an option, SS is tied with Dynamat, both are slightly better quality than Rammat, but cost more (Dynamat being the most expensive).

Cost on a 1-10 scale (1 is cheapest, 10 is most expensive)

Quality on a 1-10 scale (1 is worst, 10 is best)

This was broken down using Dynamat X-treme, SS Damplifier Pro, and Raamat BXT. I have never used Raamat, so like I said it's what I gathered from reading the forum...
