i want to deaden my 72 plymouth duster, its not going to be an spl vehicle or anything, just a nice sq setup to drown out the motor when needed.

right now the car is a bare shell, what should i use to deaden it? sludge looks like the easiest and best to me, but i find myself wrong often. how many gallons would it take to do the whole car? (firewall, floor, roof, doors and trunk)

i've used sludge and it worked good for me. i would say only a gallon or 2. i got the 5 gallon pale and just went crazy though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif it's easy to put out. just get out some gloves and smear that shit on.

I love damping cars when they are nothing but a shell. With your goals, here is how I sugest doing it:

40 sq feet of Damplifier

2 gallons of Spectrum

1 gallon sludge

1 sheet overkill

use all that onthe firewall and dash in that order and you will be golden

at a minimum 3 gallons spectrum (not sludge).

if it were my car I would do something like this:

120 sq feet Damplifier

7 gallons spectrum

3 sheets Luxury Liner

4 sheets Overkill

4 sheets rattle Pad

that would do the entire car though and would make it as quiet as a 5 series BMW

ANT

Not to step on Ant's toes here....

But I would follow the suggestion above, only insert Raammat (http://www.raamaudio.com) where he as Damplifier listed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Save you around $100-$200 in total cost with essentially no degradation in performance.

Also check out the Ensolite product on Raammat's website. Similar in function as Overkill, but is over half the price. I do not know of any side by side comparisons between the two (or any closed cell foams in general), but the Ensolite again should perform very similarly at a cheaper price.

Ant's probably cussing me out right now...LOL, but that's my $.02

And, considering the size of a project you have, I would think saving a buck or two would be in your best interest.

thanks for the advice everybody. i would love to put as much stuff into the car as you suggested ANT, but it looks like its going to cost a little more than i have left over. i just bought new 1/4 panels, fenders and hood, bunch of parts and had the interior redone ready to go back in after paint and deadening.

i would like to do the whole car if possible, for under 400-450$. it may be asking alot, but thats all im willing to spend on it for now. the spectrum sounds like the easist to do and has a good price to it.

sludge is easy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif just grab handfuls and smear all over. i have good success with it but that's just my opinion.
