Sound deadening question

Do you put sound deadening mat under mdf baffles normally? I just put in some baffles this weekend and will be getting raamat soon. The layers would be, metal, raamat, modeling clay, mdf baffle, speaker. In the sticky for sound deadening the poster didnt put material all the way up to the edge of the speaker hole cutout.
