Sound deadening material?

Any people out there use a sound deadening material? If so, what brand? Dyanmat, Fatmat, eDead, Thermo-Damp? Did you like the brand you got? Was the performance in SPL of your system enough to make it worth the money? Do u know how many DB's it increased your system?

i used B-quite. it was $110 canadian shiped for 50 sq ft. i didnt realy notice a differnce is SPL. it wast my porpse. i just wanted to sound dead my doors so my speakers would rattle this sh it outta it. it did make a big diff in cleanin up the rattles

I would steer clear of any product that isn't butyl rubber-based...makes quite a difference in temperature tolerance and failure mode. I bought a roll of RAAMmat; wouldn't have gone with any asphalt-based stuff.

x2 love that stuff. gettin 40sqft and a 2gal bucket of sludge for the front doors.

Used some of the B-stock spectrum (liquid damping from second skin) on my brother's car and it worked great for stopping rattles.

I'll second the comment on asphalt based products though....probably not the best idea. They work well, but are much more prone to falling off at high temperatures.

I'm probably going to wait until later in December, because I have two buddies who want an install done. They both want their cars fully deadened, so I will definately be reaping the rewards of bulk pricing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

(One of the installs will be with two RL-S 12's or New XXX 12's, in a custom fiberglassed enclosure. So be on the look out in late december for a build thread on it.)

rammat or second skin products are the best, in my 1989 mazda doing the doors and the trunk with 'sludge' and half a roll of rammat on the other obvious places it made a huge difference to my ride / listening experience. if you have a newer vehicle and its already very quiet (lexus, merc, rolls , bmw etc) then you probably wont notice deadening so much, because your car is already quiet, but if you drive a noisy cheap car (like me) then a weekend with some good deadening materials will change EVERYTHING about your driveing/listening experience.

Hey I'm gonna deaden my new 06 Double Cab Tacoma. What would be the best/cheapest material to do the entire truck? I plan on doing the roof as well. There is absolutely no insulation up there and it sounds horrible when driving in the rain. I'd also need a sq ft estimate if anyone has one.

I plan on building a pure SQ setup. DLS UP6 comps in the front, and a DLS Iridium 10" in behind the rear seat.
