I just recently got my system installed, finally. I have the trunk fairly well dampened and the driver and passeners front doors done well. I am getting rattle from the rear deck and some from the headliner. i plan on dropping the headliner and dynamatting it, my question is i picked up some of that foam that goes under carpet, i was thinking of putting that under my rear deck, and some behind my front door speakers. Any thoughts or opinons?

This should help with the rattling and maybe even dampening of noise, but i haven't tried it to say it works 100%

I say try it, it wouldn't hurt. Iif you can i say layer it up as much as possible to ensure that it works as well as it can. You never know!... What would take Dynamat 1 layer you might accomplish the same results with 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20 layers of this stuff... like i said it can't hurt

i dont mind paying for dynamat but i figured foam would help that platic hitting the metal rattle more then dynamattin the back of my rear deck. *shrug* ill try it

well foam is definately good on plastic peices..

one way if the plastic peice bangs against another panel the foam will cushion it and it wont make a rattle sound..

and if their is enuff foam the panel wont move at all....

well just did my rear deck and also put alot between my trunk lid then dynamatted over it, it made a pretty decent difference in the trunk, rear deck however not too much difference but noticable. this stuff says stay away from heat but im sure it will be fine/

As long as you are happy with the results thats all that really matter, and chances are that carpet foam will be fine heat wise. It should act as a insulator, and keep the car cool/hot.

its carpet pad by the way, not "foam". Be careful, if that stuff catches a spark, you and everything around you will soon be ash. Carpet pad is extremely...extremeeeeeeeeeely flammable. Its very dense though, should help with road noise even.

no, just no! Why the lies? Where do you get your information?

Carpet pad is actually quite nonflammable... all carpet and pads and area rugs... stuff like that has to pass government flammability tests to even be sold....

I wouldn't use it in the doors, as its a very humid environment inside there and the underlay padding will soak up moisture like a sponge and turn it into a stinky mold.

If you have ever pulled up the floor carpets in an old vehicle you'll know what I mean.

It should however, work fine in the rear deck.

I have burned that carpet pad before. It *is* flammable, but it did take me a little effort to get it there (gasoline).

I use it to line between the false floor and real floor in my trunk. Works great.

that foam is supposed to really reduce road noise.
No, no foam will really reduce road noise unless it's very thick or very dense.

BTW OP, your link is dead.

You can use just about anything to decouple/isolate two surfaces from vibrating against each other. Get an old sweatshirt and some spray glue and go to town. Adhesive-backed weather stripping works wonders, too.
