sound damping and thd

Does anybody know what the best Total Harmonic Distortion(thd) rating is of any amplifier,4channel or 2 or mono, that is in production today. Yes that means no ppi- pc or pcx series. The best thd i have found is the picasso series from soundstream at .02, and i was curious if there were any others. Also i am looking for an amp, 2 channel or mono, with a sound damping of >500.

If you are wanting to know which amp has the lowest rated THD just for information's sake, I really couldn't tell you off hand. I think my old Eclipse 34230 had a THD rating of around .004% IIRC.

But if you are wanting to know which has the absolute lowest THD to aid in making a purchasing decision; don't even bother. You will not hear a difference between .00002% and .99999% (for example). Plus most amp's have their output rated at a 1% THD level. Basically, any amp worth it's weigth will produce essentially inaudible levels/differences in level of distortion unless you drive the amp past that point.

As for the damping factor of >500.......why? Anything over 50 won't make an audible difference. A damping factor of 2000 won't sound better than 200.
