sound dampening question

what can u use to stop all the rattling on my ride. i dont want to buy a dynamat kit because it cost a lot. i have the system installed in a 98 chevy lumina so everything rattles... any advise would be very helpful.... thanks...

it would be in the roofing material section. it's asphalt based and you'll prolly want to heat it before applying it. basically with deadening you are adding mass to the panels to reduce vibration. you may need to use more layers of peel n seel then you would dynamat. it usually runs roughly $1 per sq. ft. maybe more

You get it in the roofing department.

Some places have it, some don't. Go to Lowes.

have you checked ebay for dynamat. much cheaper than retail. or other alternatives, rammat, brown bread, things of that nature. go on ebay and search in the consumer electronics section under installation products. youll find alot of alternatives.

not peel n seel but i have used edead (when it was asphalt based) which is the same thing, different name. butyl based mat is easier to use and sticks better, but if you heat up the peel and seel, and maybe spray some adheisive on the panels you want to deaden, that'll help. also with this once you stick it, you can't move it like butyl based mat.

The only thing I would use is damplifier, but that's probably out of your price range.

Join the forum and you can get a discount, but you have to talk there for a bit. When you call and ask about a discount, he will give you one (5%-30% off). I would get that though. If you want to rid your rattles, damplifier is the way to go.
