Sound dampening cheaper alternatives

Here is my list of possible alternatives to Dynamat, Raamat, brown bread, fatmat,..etc

Some of those listed are cheaper than others but all of them are quite pricey imo. Here's a list I compiled of possible alternatives. Let me know what you guys think and please comment on the ones you have tried. Thanks.

1)Peel and Seal

2)Ice dam sheeting

3)Cork tiles

4)Ice Guard(aka Weather Guard)

5)Sound dampening board (4' x 8' x 1/2" sheet of it at Home Depot) This stuff is made of shredded, pressed paper. (Some acoustic ceiling tiles are made of the same stuff)

6)silicone to fill for thin cracks

7)Rhino Bedliner for adding mass to anywhere and everywhere

Sorry but I can't list prices on here but everything here is at least 50% cheaper than the cheapest sound dampening material sold for car audio.

I'll update as I try the difference products. I hope you guys will do the same.

PS. I'm doing this because I don't want to spend $100 for something that still requires hours of labor on my part. Plus I might be selling my car soon so I just want something half decent.

Haha I forgot that one. Only problem with that is that it might become difficult since it will expand so be carefull it can and will bend the metal if not extremely cautious!

shoot i remember like a year ago some guy made his own dynomat and posted it, it had to do w/ like pressing aluminum (sp?) foil and some other stuff together..................any one remember that?

Peal and seal does not stick worth the crap, i put it on my trunk lid and its falling off as we speak.

It's not available in Daly City, California. However I've heard from other ppl that they do sell it at select Lowes. Or you can get it online of course.

Surface must be CLEAN. I use brake cleaner first, then heat the peel & seal with a hair dryer, and be sure to overlap the ends. I've got it everywhere in my car and have had no problems and it's a black car that gets VERY hot on any sunny day.

Not saying it's the best out there, but it will work if you take the time to apply it properly...
