Sony XPOLD

well i have the 3/4 channel xplod 500w amp and it seems to be like any other 500w amp... it seems to work well i like it.. it will be my speaker amp once i get my Hifonics brutus bx1500D amp for my new subs..

i got the sony amp in my sig and it goes into protection mode with a 4 ohm load bridged and gain all the way down. and sony to me just doesnt seem to care about quality. but i hear in another listing that someone liked the subs..... but he didnt know what a good quality SQ sub sounded like.

you can get a shiva for like 125 from http://www.adireaudio.com i have heard really good things about those and http://www.reaudio.com has better speakers than sony.

oops that a little off topic but as for amps theres cleaner amps out there but since you have it give it a try if they dont sound good to you then try another....

Bad Install makes the best speakers sound like crap

I have an XM-475 Sony XPlod 4-channel amp, 75x4, I've never had any problems with it before but I've never run it under 4-ohm and have never bridged it. I'm only using half of it right now powering my components, it seems to do the job nicely. The adjustments on the amp are a pain to get to.

I wouldn't recommend buying any Sony equipment though due to reliablity problems I've had in the past with many of their other products.

I seriously hope not!

By looking down at your sig and seeing Orion HCCA 15D, tell me that's not a quality sub???

The Sony ES series was great, but you can't get that in the US anymore. Xplod is junk. Sony stopped caring about selling quality product to America when they realized how much money they could make from PS2 game licensing. Hell, even the current PS2 is poorly built. Xplod is over-rated. The only Sony car audio stuff I would buy is some of the old high-end ES stuff, like the CDX-C90, CDX-828, and XDP-4000X. (All three of which I intend to be the basis for my system when money stops being such a sore subject)

the HCCA took a poop in the back of my car. right now i have 2-12"xplod's(i should change my sig, but orion looks better than sony) the sq isn't so great, but they get just as "loud" as the orion.right now i'm putting a third in.

like said above.....the mobile es line of amps and h/u's are indeed worth the money (even the xlpod mobile es which they did make towards the end of the es life)...the speakers and subs are way below par...as is the regular (current) xplod amps...

example...

i am currently running a 10" memphis hpo off a memphis pr140 which is rated 70 wrms x1 @4 ohm...recently i tried a sony 1600 watt peak mono amp...and didn't gain anything. it was rated 500 x1 @ 4 ohm and it wasn't noticeably louder at all. as a matter of fact, the memphis actually "played" lower then the sony. it was definitely cleaner.

but for a budget and considering ur running a pyle sub..the sony oughta be fine.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/peace.gif.2db28b618ed8d1964ebbe2f5021d2c39.gif

I personally don't see a problem with Sony amps, other than the fact that they get warm pretty fast. They seem to put out around what they're rated for. My friend had 2 12w7s with each being powered by a sony 1600w max amps, and it sounded great. If you're on a budget, go with Sony....except when it comes to speakers.
