Im researching trying to find a good stereo system for my car without spending over about $500. I saw on ebay a deal for a pair of 12" 2400 watt Sony Xplod XS-L121P5 subs, a box, and amp wiring for $210 with shipping. If you could please send me your reviews on the subs, telling me whatever you know. Thank you.

Sony Xplodes are horrible. if i were you id go for a mid level single 12 or 15 and a decent amp and set it up in a custom ported box. Wiring kits are on ebay for about 20 bucks and you can make a custom box for about 20 bucks as well.

Remember... in car audio, you get what you pay for.

Try to keep in mind, i want to spend under $500 for an amp, cdplayer, subs, box, and wiring. I found all these items on ebay for slightly over or under 500, but the cd player was about 190. all the items are sony xplod.

Most people who have never heard a really good product will think whatever they hear is good. An Xplod may sound good now, but once you hear any of the subs mattj listed, the Xplod will quickly sound like utter shit.

How much more are you saying? Because i only have 1200 in savings. cant spend too much. also, im only 15 and not looking for the best money can buy, just a big step from the stock audio in my 89 supra, which sucks. what im asking is, are xplods worth the money for an average stereo system? all my friends cars have only stock systems, and i want something thats better than stock without spending too much money. and i dont have a job yet, because i just turned 15 today.

Thanks for that list Lunatic. Ill look into it. But theres this cd player i want. its a Sony Xplod CDX-M800. from what ive read its a nice stereo, and i want it for my car. would it be compatible with the other things you mentioned?

my frend had a knockoff hollywood 12 anda CV HED 12 hooked up to 400 watts. he then decided to go buy 2 JLw0s and be louder. i must say the JLs got 0wn3d.

i also had a nakamichi 400watt amp pushing a CV HED 12 and it kept overheating and shuttong off. it wouldnt even get loud and the amp retails for 300-400MSRP.
