Sony Xplod Subs

hey come to think of it... how come sony makes some awsome products, blueray stuff ps3's, computers, yet their speakers absolutely BLOW anyone know why? how are they manufactured... like by sony? or designed by someone for sony?

i still think you guys are over reacting to these subs, ive heard them many times before and for the price i dont think they are nearly as bad as you guys say they are, most of you prolly have a single sub more expensive than my entire setup combined

You should purchase what you want, just keep in mind people here are trying to help you out. Most people have heard sony subs along with many other subs, and most/all of them agree you can do better for the money. If you like the Type E you could consider upgrading to the Type R which you can find in the for sale threads for about 100 shipped.

only if ur stuff are cheap stuff, and i don't mean that in a good way. But honestly, for the money there are many more options u have available. I highly suggest u going the Mach5 route if ur in Cananda

Mark is a good guy and can help you out. Just know that the reason people oppose to Sony because they are crap

Some are overreacting, but many have been down the road you are taking and are speaking from experience. I personally have not heard a Sony sub and don't care to. When I see flashy stuff and weird shapes, bells go off.

With that aside, if it is a pair you are after, have you considered getting a single larger, higher quality unit instead? You may find going with a single $200 unit will deliver more pound for the pound..

Let's put it this way: As a noob basswhore, I went around buying cheap subs because the whole thing about "you get what you pay for" hadn't really pierced my thick skull yet. I have owned JL 12W0's, a 12W1, a 12" Kenwood sub, 10" and 12" Kicker Comps, 10" Kicker CVRs, a MAW 12, a MTX 8" T6000.... I've owned a budget sub or two. I can think of 3 friends off the top of my head who thought their Sony setups were THE SHIT... until they heard other subs. Compared to the subs I mentioned earlier, the Sony subs are pretty much toys. Short excursion, no command of low notes, sub-par build quality, incopetent handling of transients, ugly looks... I mean compared to just about every other budget sub out there.... sonys pale in comparison.

To add to the above list, they sound horrible, especially with ~450 RMS. Anymore than that you'd probably blow them. I had 2 in a sealed box and took them back for PA Fubars which I then sold for some custom stuff:yumyum: Go the Mach5 route, all I've read is good reviews.

Well...i want a sub or two that can create good sounding bass but without all the rattle, my Type-E right now rattles everything to death and i figured since i listened to the Sony's at the store that thwy would be pretty good since they didnt move much but still created more bass than the Type-E...i want to get away from my trunk lid rattling so much as it does right now

Thats not how to solve the problem not to mention store displays are made that way to make a sub sound the best before you put it in your car. Dynamat + Mach5 audio and be done with it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
