i disconnected the front negative terminal from the battery and the gorund from the back batteries. had all 3 power and grounds in on the inputs on the last one. ground is in, plug power in, its in and im tightening and it starts sparking and smoking..why would this happen?

what are those black things that run along the side and is this replaceable?

 
also, why would this have happened, and as for the amp, you dont even wanna know

 
Uh oh, i'm guessing thats the maxximus.

Anything else you can tell us about when you were installing it?

Did the wrench hit the amp casing when you were tightening the terminal down? Was the amp on when you were installing that wire? All the wires were on the right terminals? Anything strange?

 
just seems like a coincidence that it went out. the way you're describing how you unhooked and hooked everything up, there should not have been an issue.

why exactly it happened, i dont know though. im almost willing to bet, it might be a somewhat common issue, or just a defected unit.
