Something is smelling in my car. I think either amp or sub. Gains r set with dmm. Could it be my filters? Or dirty signal from amp or stock deck? Im not over powering it. Any suggestions? I really don't wanna burn up my voice coil or fry my amp. Voltage isn't even dropping bad. Its an apsm 1300 so ik it has kinda dirty power, but still it shouldn't be doing that. Wired to 1 ohm correctly. Wires aren't touching

close your legs up
lololz, do you have it set for 1300rms a problem you could be running in to is after voltage drop the amp cant put out that 1300rms so it could still be getting a clipped signal.

Skar VVX subs smell like a swimming pool when they get hot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
you won't have to worry about that living in minnesota brah

Not really sure. I put up my back seat for the night cuz I had friends in the car. Then when I put the seat down the smell hit me. So Idk when it happened... the apsm only does 1k rms at 1 ohm at 16v. So im prbly only doing 750w. Everything is wired correctly so im not sure what is going on with the sub. Im pretty sure im not clipping...

What songs were you playing and were they bass boosted/rebassed?

1000W is a lot of power, if your woofer is smelling you are exceeding it's thermal limits. You are probably in the market for a sub with a 3" coil if you need to run 1200W continuously. Still not sure what this "dirty" power is that everyone is talking about that creates more heat than regular power???

1000 is not a lot of power. I had 1500 rms on my 3" coil sub with no problems...
