something smells fishy :(

People say to set the SSF 5 hz below tuning, although I normally just set mine at 25 hz. LPF I set to about 80 hz.
I really think your problems are coming from the songs you downloaded through youtube.
don't do that, I would be set at 50hz if I did that. there is a reason it's adjustable, every enclosure, every vehicle will be different. Right now mine is off, over powering my subs and tuned way high.

then what should i tune everything to? I'm tuned to about 29hz for my box cuz i just put in some extra port.

thats what I'm saying I'm not over powering it. and can you explain gain rise?
The most logical explanation is voltage drop. Get a meter and mount it in your car so you can keep tabs on what is going on and know when to back off the volume.

As for the rise, they are talking about the impedance rise. If you google it you will find a ton of information on it.

i do have a volt meter and i don't let it drop. i try not to let it get below 12.8 and okay ill google it.

12.8 is still a little low and if you stay around there it will make the amp send a clipped signal. Another issue could be your head unit or amp settings.

Running around beating on your system for a while will always show you the devil in your setup. You are lucky you didn't have to find it the hard way.

I'm guessing you don't know what it sounds when a sub has stopped to play linear? You can usually tell the difference in tone before it starts to bottom out. Play a 20hz tone and slowly turn ssf down until it does that. Do not do that how ever until you can find out why it stinks or you may be buying a recone. I would turn the gain down some and see if it still does it.

i would lose the bass knob and just use the sub level on your hu. bass knobs are bass boost. if its specifically a remote gain then its ok to use but more than likely it isnt. and dont play distorted garbage like everyone is telling you.

im not sure what to do if my head unit is clipping? i have a loc on the stock deck. the loc doesn't have any settings so I'm not sure what to do to test this. iill turn down the gain some and then see what my filters are set at.

im not sure which is it. i had the bass knob un hooked for a while cuz one of the wires inside came undone. but i fixed it. so i might try that. and i try not to play any bass boosted songs. sometimes i play sue slowed ones but not bass boosted.

Look into torrents for getting almost any music in great quality. Most songs are at least in 320k mp3.Some are in .FLAC that can be converted to .wav for true CD quality songs. Big file sizes yes but so so so worth the clean clear sound that is put out.

I dont get why people put all this money into systems to play complete **** quality sounds from them.

Bittorrent.net to install the client

Torrent Search Engine to search for files

You have to load the files into the client to download them but you will be AMAZED at the amount of content on there. Full albums of almost any kind of music and you can pick and choose which tracks to d/l from the album in the client.

Yes we know how torrents work..

1000W is a lot of power, if your woofer is smelling you are exceeding it's thermal limits. You are probably in the market for a sub with a 3" coil if you need to run 1200W continuously. Still not sure what this "dirty" power is that everyone is talking about that creates more heat than regular power???
I think dirty power is just clipped signal.
