Try setting your gains at 75% of the HU volume not 85%

When I set the gains, I was around 70% of hu volume.

then this is why it is clipping....the hu voltage goes up with volume and you are pushing the amp into clipping

Then don't expect to be able to go over that without clipping lol...

You set your gains with everything in your system as high as you'd ever have it.

Now that I know that, I'll reset the gains this evening. One more question, I believe the amp can handle 4 volt pre outs, but the hu is 5 volt. How do I go about setting the sub level, and gains and be safe?

the hu most likely won't put out 5v when measured....you will be fine setting gains as you did except this time don't turn it up past where you set

Take a Y-Adapter, a portable cd player or mp3 player and hook it directly to the amp powering your subs if you're wondering about the RCA's.

It was the gain setting. Plays fine now, and not clipping. On a side note, I guess it's time for a bigger amp. Thanks again for all the help.
