something is wrong need help

ok i had just bought a sub and amp from a friend, the amp didnt work and we sent it back to the factory for repair. i just got it back today and the sub still does not work, all connections are right, i dont know what is wrong. could it possible the sub is broken , if so what are some ways of troubleshooting to find my problem

does the sub make any kind of attempt to produce noise? if so and it seems to be producing some noise, then i would say power is not being fully aplied to the speaker or the cone may of seperated on the sub which means the sub is blown(broken)....but thats just my opinion and im prolly wrong lol
