Something I learned today

im taking an environmental credit right now, and according to the world's reserves, theres only about 30-40years worth of oil left //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif. we better get on the ball.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif the price of ethanol is directly related to the 9/11 conspiracy
well you wont be laughing when you are having to walk everywhere you go. and you have to tote around an old fashioned boombox. and the name of this site changes to boombox.com, serving the boombox enthusiast.

I still think that its fairly interesting that farmers get added subsidizes to not grow corn for ethanol use though. And my professors is sane. I promise. he's an economsist

The only real problem with diesel is its enviromental impact. Other than that, diesel would be perfect. BUT, I dont give a shit about the enviroment. Ill be dead before it means anything to me or my kids even. Diesels are even good for making lots of horsepower and torque. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif funny cars and most dragsters are diesel i do believe
The reason for going diesel is you can DIY the fuel pretty cheaply //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Used vegetable oil that's been processed with a few chemicals can be run in an unmodified diesel. Get waste oil from fast food restaurants and filter it, and your fuel costs are well under what ethanol would be.

no shit, i have a 65 mile each way commute to school..or the nearest super market.

i thought you had to do some kind of engine mod? i was talking to one of my friends, and their parents did it to one of their new ford diesel trucks, but payed like $3000.

Yeah, thats too. Biodiesel and regular desiel are VERY different though. Dont go pouring refined vege diesel into your unmodded Bimmer or you are going to have a very unhappy bmw.

I heard more like 12-16, and that was 4 years ago. *shrugs*

Either way it's only a ~50% threshold. There's still half the planet's oil left, it's just about 12X more expensive to extract. Not like anyone is going to mind $24 - $36 / gallon.

i did read once that scientists were developing an engine that could run on ocean water. apparently it gets like 500 miles to a gallon.
thats another part of the 9/11 conspiracy.. they flew the planes into the towers because thats where they were working on the projet. It was the oil companies, not the Muslims who planned 9/11. Then we waged war to drive the cost of oil up, further increasing the profits for the oil companies.

yeah but the only beef i have with that is we really dont know how much oil is in the earth if you think about it. couple years ago they found a reserve in russia that could supposedly run the earth for like 40 years. but who really knows.

The US possesses THE largest collection of oil in the world. No joke. But its in a very wierd form. Its called Shale Oil. I dont know the exact specifications but if engineers can eventually come up with a way to collect and refine this stuff for a reasonable cost, America will possess about 200 more years worth of oil.

Yup...need to replace all the fuel lines and gaskets the first time it's run, and if you're in a cold climate, a heater for the fuel lines isn't a bad idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Stuff is a lot more viscous and a heck of a lot better solvent than regular diesel...
