i just recently purchased a used old school rockford punch 800@2 here is a link to the exact amp specs http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/library/2001/3_Amplifiers/MAN3216A_Punch2Ch_MAN.pdf .

i wired it up today using 4 awg and the amp does not turn on. i know my wiring is correct because i have been doing my own installs for 8 years now and i just earlier today took out another fully functional amp out of this same car.

the only thing i may have missed is that this particular amp the 800 series takes 2 positives and 2 negatives both are fitted to accept 8 awg wire the insides are for a so called punch power cap and the outsides are for the basic positive negative terminals.

i only used the two outside terminals 1 positive and 1 negative, and did not use the 2 inside terminals provided for the punch power cap, could this be why i am getting no power? or is this a non working amp? also does anyone thing i should run 2 regular powers and 2 regular grounds instead of the punch cap?

did you use the remote wire from the headunit? I had the same issue and all i did was switch the remote wire from the H/U to a ignition controlled slot in my fusebox
remember i had a ppi pc2150 hooked up an hour before this and everything was perfect i changed no wires.

Edit: Eh, forget anything I wrote then if you actually saw it, sounds like a dead amp. Unless I am mistaken there are no internal fuses in those fosgates either....open it up and take a peek maybe?

grab a DMM and start checking your wires first...also che3ck your amp fuses if there are any
the wires are 100% perfect all i did was change amps and these amps have no fuses on the outside but thanks any help is appreciated

also not for nothing but i got the amp on ebay from a seller with 254 feedbacks all 100% positive, and could certain amps react to remote wire differently because my pc2150 was working fine with the same exact wire

yeah...just trying some very general troubleshooting here...i always try to eliminate the obvious before i start thinking something is wrong with the equipment. Last resort , you could take the amp to a shop and have them test it for you...most places around me do it for free.

possible...take a small piece of wire and run it from the power terminal to the remote terminal on the amp. (assuming you have the power and ground already hooked up) if the amp turns on...your remote wire is bad

thats also possible....there is an Orion amp that has the same set-up i believe. Both must be connected for the amp to run
but do they have to be connected to a cap or is bare wire fine too i can split my 4 awg with a power block and use 2 8 awgs and grounds the same maybe right?

pic of the inside. alot of dual power terminal amps are internatly connected so you only need one set hooked up to make it run but that one may not be.
