Did we ever calculate the current box size? I say we throw a huge 50" port on it and a bow and call it a chocolate box...

Correct, I was thinking 50" length... and I would have to do the math but most likely the height of the box.

Quick and VERY DIRTY calculation would be something like 48" long (length of box), 18" high (height of box), by 7.5" wide would net VERY ROUGHLY 30hz tuning.

I should be shot by my math teacher. Man I hated her.

Well 80Inches is getting me some plans tonight... Slopok and I may start building the new enclosure later this week.... Then depending on my funding situation I might be selling the JL's and going with a pair of 18" RE HC's... With a Memphis Mojo... and Building a ported wall behind the back seat of the Tahoe! YAY!

if u want something of that caliber get either 2 fi q18's or 2 fi btl 18's

and but them in a 4th order bandpass wall with a 300 square inch port tuned to 50hz..that will be seriously loud

Oh, and FI looks like sweet stuff isnt there someone running a set of 4 18's or 15's in a 4 door Tahoe with his own site?

So would anyone know why JL does not reccomend using the 18w6 in a ported enclosure? Could it be because the box would have to be too big?

Its all marketing... To keep the "crispness" of the sub is my guess. However, other JL users may chime in here. I am not sure about the marketing of a 10-15 cube box but if you are looking at 18s who the hell cares how big a box it goes in?

I think the stealth coffee table would be dope... we could port it and aim the port at the couch... MMMM real musaka...
