Though, like was said....they don't get mentioned here because most people on here simply don't have enough cash to even consider purchasing one. On other boards with more experienced members (such as ECA or CarSound) most people have heard them, and a decent portion have owned one.

Personally, I'd never own one...not even for the prices they go for used. I just flat out don't think something so "simple" as an amplifier should cost so much.

Because most people here are under 25, go to Best Buy for their equipment and don't realize that there are amplifiers out there that are worth a good portion of the book value of their Honda Civics.

Home audio has an ever worse mark-up...you'll see Welborne Labs monoblocks for sale on Audiogon for less than 2/3'rds of what they sell new for. A $1,500 2A3 amplifier that may have $600 in parts might sell for only a few hundred above parts cost. Bottlehead Labs used to charge $250 per pair to assemble their Paramour monos...something that you could do with a soldering iron and wire strippers in two evenings. Smoke and mirrors.
