Hey guys:

I have an Alpine MRP-M850 coming in and I decided to do the big 3 to help out my electrical system a bit. I just need some help making sure I have the right spots. From what I understand I need positive alt to positive battery, negative battery to ground and engine block to ground. I think I have those first 2 but the last one I'm not sure, here's what I've got.

This is the positive terminal of the alternator, that I connect to the possitive on the battery, right?

I need to also add a wire to this negative terminal of my battery and connect it to a ground on the chassis, if I follow one of those wires I should find a ground spot right? (Don't worry im getting new battery terminals :p )

Now this last one I have no idea, where do I find the engine block to ground wire? If I follow the second wire from my negative battery terminal will that lead to the engine block?

Here's a pic of under the hood, maybe point me in the right direction:

I think the first 2 are right, I'm just not sure where the engine block to ground is. Anybody know where I can find it on my car?

Thanks

This one?

Should I unscrew it first and sand down all around it? Or at least clean it?

Can I hook this up to the same spot I use for my battery negative to chassis?

Thanks

I meant it like this: I will have a wire from my negative battery to chassis, can I hook that bolt to the same spot on the chassis as the one from the battery? Or does the engine block have to go to the battery terminal on the battery?

So the negative terminal on the battery acts as a chassis ground as long as it is connected to a chassis ground with another wire. Right?

either way lol, i could connect the engine to either and it would work, i got it, tyvm for the help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

id like to suggest something, when i did the big 3 on my truck i noticed the wire coming from the alt to the batt was fairly thick solid copper wire so i decided to leave that one alone and so far so good

Your best bet is to ground the block to the chassis by itself by the shortest route. This way your alternator is grounded to the chassis directly instead of through another ground (your battery). Should be a 'cleaner' ground. And if something were to happen to break the ground on your battery, you'd still have another ground for your alternator.

Yeah I'm going to ground the alternator casing to a spot on the left of the picture there, and the negative battery to another ground spot on the other side of the car.

My amp is grounded to the metal of the car, all sanded down and what not, its a spot I found between the back seats and the trunk, why?
