solo L5 question

Ok i have two solo L5's and a 1200.1 amp, long story short i blew the subs in about 30 min, cause i did full power from the start. luckly mine are lifetime guarenty, so i am getting them replaced tomorrow.

My question is, is the 1200.1 amp too much for it. cause it is rated at 1450 rms on mine and my subs are rated a 600rms each which would be 1200 rms.

if its not too big for it what do i have to do so it wont blow again. i heard i am supposed to alow it to work in for a couple of hours, how long?

And if its not to big will i ever be able to turn the amp all the way up?

before you try volume mastering (hehehe) let them play at about 1/3 to half volume (no more than that ) for a good couple days i was told 10-20 hours then bang away.

i did the same thing with my 12" L5 dual 2 ohm sub.

it was running off a kicker 600x1 at 2 ohm amp. i didnt really know much back then so i wired it in parallel. it was in a ported box and witin 5 minutes smoke came from the port and now its gone. and i didnt have a warranty so i was assed out. i wired it in series for about 20 minutes and it hit pretty good, until some "stereo geniuses" came and told me to wire it a different way. when we pulled the sub out these geniuses had a wierd look on their face, they had never seen a DVC sub before. i was pissed.

ooo0o also do you know where your box is tuned? set your sub sonic filter to right around where your box is tuned. speakers in tuned enclosures have very little power handleing below the tuning frequency of the box. also "turning up" your amp isnt the best thing to do. gains are to be matched from the cd player and its a bad idea to turn up the eq bass boosts too high (meaning you wouldnt catch me dead turning it up past like +4) lol

how was the gains and bass boost set.....and whom gave you a lifetime warranty...LOL...good luck with that one..

Accually all the Audio pros have lifetime warrenty on kicker, i just replaced mine, for FREE..............

full power as in full gains??? good god almighty.. those subs should take the power but set gains looow low low...if you get new ones. good luck, that'd be pretty cool though.

PAY ATTENTION TO JMAC's post. make sure your subsonic is set where your box is tuned, and if its sealed, make sure it's REALLY SEALED. solobarics can handle some punishment if you know what youre doing.
