Solder on Wires

I am doing some major wiring tomorrow and I was wondering about solder. I would like to solder the ends of the wires so that they don't get all frayed and stuff. Will the solder impede the current too much, or is this a decent idea to keep everything clean?

In case it matters, I am running a run of stinger 0/1 and another run of stinger 4G for a JL 450/4 and a Kicker 2500.1.

Are you talking about soldering the ends of the power wire? Its going to make them rock hard and you won't be able to crimp or put them in any fittings.

Solder is meant for wire, therefore isn't going to hurt the current flow one bit.

Yes, the ends. I don't have any crimping, just allen screws. I think that the rigidity might help for an allen screw application, providing that there is some extra room. I guess that I will have to test them first.

You also need one large soldering iron to properly solder 1/0 power wire. Small propane flame would do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Truth.

Would be amusing to witness, though.

for those amps you dont need to solder anything, they use allen heads and those work perfectly fine. only thing you would want to solder is the ring terminals for the grounding and where your remote split is.

I am not going to solder them in place into the amp. I am talking about soldering the wire ends so that they don't fray and then tightening the allen screws down. Then they are solid and the allen screws grip better.

A regular iron will coat the end of wire in solder just fine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A regular iron will drip solder onto 1/0 just fine. It won't solder 1/0 at all.

solder isn't necessary if u crimp the ring terminals right. but i have been more security type before also i crimped the ring terminal soldered around it they weren't coming off at all haha.
