i do plan on going active... i currently have focal 165v2 comps, but using the passive xover /w rainbow cal25 tweets. i want to run an active front stage off of my 7998, but i cant decide on what mid to use. the thread boner seems to tell me to get the aa polys because of best bang for buck kinda thing, but is there anything comparable in a similar price range? or is there something taht is worth spending more on? i have about 70w @ 4 ohms for each, so some suggestions would help. also, tweets in the sails, mids in the doors.

scan speak revelator...
zapco rm-6b.165 mid. badass. if you want a little deeper sound go for the comp mid. i run mine active, i have the full on ref component set though, sounds incredable.
did both of you guys actually read his post? he said something in the similar price range of AA poly mids. scan speak revs are way expensive and same goes for the zapco (plus zapco raw drivers probably won't be easy and cheap to come by).

i suggest dayton reference 4 ohm drivers. about $28 a pop or so. i think i might try those drivers just cuz they are so cheap. check out http://www.zaphaudio.com. great site for reviews on diy drivers.

also consider some seas drivers as well namely the CA18RNX, CA18RLY, L18. all are reasonably priced.

aha, i would actually be okay with spending a lil more if the speakers were worth it, but i dont hav like 200 to spend on each, but... those seas are all 8ohm, i wouldnt hav enough power for em =T

and what's wrong with 8 ohm? i had my old seas ca18rly running off of 35 watts and it played clean. nice midbass. definately enough power to get them going. seas drivers are really efficient. my lotus refs pound off of 75 watts. but hey i understand but just throwing out suggestions for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

i say you buy both the AA and daytons. both are pretty cheap. use both and keep the one you like. then just return the ones you want to get rid of. all you lose is shipping (~$10) but i think it's worth it since you will know which one is better.
